Potential of Coffee Extract as Anti-aging for Cosmetic Product Ingredients: A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
Due to its high level of commercialization in the manufacture of hot beverages and other coffee-based food products, coffee is one of the most valuable agricultural commodities. Coffee can be a valuable resource and deserves to be revived in the pharmaceutical industry, including in cosmetics. The consequences of skin aging are inevitable as the population ages worldwide. The purpose of this study is to collect the latest research that has been conducted regarding the use of coffee extract as an anti-aging ingredient in beauty products. This study is a type of research that uses the literature review method. Literature collection follows the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. The stages of literature collection consisted of four procedures, namely identification, screening, and feasibility. that the use of coffee extract from either beans or fruit culms can be utilized as beauty products in various forms. The anti-aging activity possessed by coffee can increase skin moisture, which is very important for skin flexibility and elasticity. The anti-aging activity possessed by coffee has answered the needs of people experiencing premature aging. Products produced by utilizing coffee extract include scrubs, face masks, facial serums, and sunscreens
